All point to Skull Kid having grown up during the Hyrulean civil war before OoT. The state of Termina, the pending doom, the races mostly live separately and rule themselves, Ikana Canyon having dead soldiers, ect. A side quest that deals with a missing person. We never see Kafei age back into an adult, although it would have been the big payoff for the game's biggest side quest. I believe that Kafei is Skull Kid's doppelganger. Before he got lost in the first and became a skull kid These characters come from Skull Kid's memories when he was a Hylian. Link, Skull Kid and HMS are the only ones from outside of Termina we see (plus the fairies) but we still get a few new faces in the game. but if Link's memories only fills in a small part of that world, that means the bulk is Skull Kid's. The chosen hero, blessed by the gods, wielding the sword of evil's bane. In the same way, the Fierce Deity Mask is Link's doppelganger but also how he sees himself. It's the doom that loomed over Link's life, ready to crush him at any moment.
Why the moon's resemblance to Ganondorf is one of these. This is why some of them have the same type of jobs or close to it. Link's memories only fills in a few characters, mostly the doppelgangers. These memories are from Link and Skull Kid. The Termina we see is formed by Majora's Mask and from the memories of two different people. Hey!
